The Adoniesis Photograph
In 1972, Italian contactee Eugenio Siragusa publicly presented a photograph of an alleged astral or extraterrestrial being he called “Adoniesis.” Two different accounts exist for how the photograph originated.

Who Adoniesis Was
In Siragusa’s teachings, Adoniesis was one of the astral or extraterrestrial beings he claimed to be in contact with. Siragusa described Adoniesis as a “Solar Genius” associated with the fifth dimension.
Siragusa distinguished Adoniesis from another figure called Adonay. In his cosmic hierarchy, Adoniesis was a Solar Genius who operated under the authority of Adonay, while Adonay occupied a higher position and was associated with the Sun and the Solar System.
Siragusa also stated that “Adoniesis” was a pseudonym rather than the being’s true name.
Some messages attributed to Adoniesis were said to have been transmitted from a spacecraft called PAX.
The Two Competing Accounts of Its Origin
There are two different accounts of how the photograph originated.
Orazio Valenti’s account: Siragusa received the photograph anonymously in the mail at Valverde in 1972 and identified the figure as Adoniesis.
Bongiovanni / Solex Mal account: Siragusa personally photographed Adoniesis in Catania in March 1972 using a Minolta reflex camera.
Version 1: Orazio Valenti’s Account
According to Orazio Valenti, Siragusa’s biographer and a professional photographer who said he was present, Siragusa did not take the photograph himself. Valenti said that in 1972 at Valverde, Sicily, Siragusa received an anonymous letter containing the image and then handed it to him for examination.
Valenti recalled that he could not determine how the face had been produced using the photographic methods familiar to him at the time, though he acknowledged that he could have been mistaken. Siragusa identified the image as resembling the “astral face” of Adoniesis.
Valenti said that Siragusa later accepted responsibility for taking the photograph. According to Valenti, Siragusa considered the identity of the figure more important than whether he had physically taken the image himself.
Valenti also said Siragusa believed that if someone had produced the image as a trick, that person could still have been influenced by Adonay to provide it.
Version 2: Bongiovanni / Solex Mal’s Account
Filippo Bongiovanni and the Solex Mal / Dal Cielo alla Terra archive give a different account of the photograph’s origin. According to their version, Siragusa personally photographed Adoniesis in Catania in March 1972 using a Minolta reflex camera near a church. Later publications from the same group place the location near a church on Via Monserrato.
They state that other people, including journalists, were present at the time. Siragusa was said to have seen Adoniesis while the others present could not, and the figure then appeared in the photograph he took.
The Bongiovanni / Solex Mal material also states that Siragusa said on multiple occasions that he personally took the photograph. They cite interviews recorded with Siragusa by Salvo Maccarone in 1991 and Giuliano Falciani in 1994, along with Siragusa’s publications and the January 1977 issue of Giornale dei Misteri.
They further state that Siragusa later gave the original photograph to their archive, where they say it remains in their possession.
